Assembly of God hosts ‘Alive’ program

Saturday Night “Alive” will be at 7 p.m. today at the First Assembly of God Church on the corner of Fourth and H streets in Rupert.

Pastor Randy Gardner will start a new series, “Joseph’s 10 Character Tests.” Part 1 is “The Pride Test.”

Alive is a nonprofit, nondenominational service open to any and all people and sponsored by Way Station Ministries. Everyone is invited to come as they are and share in this time of fellowship and learning.

Freewill offerings will be accepted.

Lutheran Church organist retires

Denise Hawkins will be honored during worship at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Twin Falls for her service as church organist. She is retiring after more than 30 years at the organ and choir director for part of that time. Her playing will be missed, but she will still be singing in the congregation.

Elizabeth Brunelle will play the grand piano for the summer, and Yvonne Carpenter will resume as pianist in mid-August.

Pastor concludes sermon series

The Rev. Philip Airhart will conclude his sermon series, “Extreme Makeover: Soul Edition” by discussing “From Gossip to Grace” for worship at 10 a.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church, 360 Shoshone St. E. in Twin Falls. Scripture reading is Luke 15:1, 11-32.

The church is proud of its own longtime member and centenarian, Dorothy Custer, who made a guest appearance and harmonica-playing debut on Jay Leno’s “The Tonight Show” on June 20.

Ascension Church holds potluck picnics

The Ascension Episcopal Church will hold Family Potluck Picnics at 6 p.m. Thursdays at the City Park prior to the Twin Falls City Band concerts. All are welcome; bring a dish to share, your own beverages and table service, and a chair or blanket. Look for the Episcopal windsock.

On this third Sunday of Pentecost, services of Holy Eucharist will be held at 8 and 10 a.m. with Father Fred Elwood as guest celebrant.

Ascension Cafe begins at 9 a.m.

Morning Prayer will be held at 7 a.m. Wednesday. Father Tom Kennedy will lead Bible study at 11 a.m. and will celebrate Holy Eucharist at 12:15 p.m.

Combined choir plans dress rehearsal

A combined choir of all the churches in the Mini-Cassia area will present the annual Community Patriotic Program at 6 and 8 p.m. July 3 at the King Fine Arts Center in Burley.

The final dress rehearsal will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Burley LDS Stake Center, 2050 Normal Ave.
