BUHL • Robert Carl “Bob” Freeman 67, of Buhl, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones after a long, courageous battle with COPD on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012.

Bob was the second child born to Orlin W. and Vada Freeman on April 28, 1945. He attended school in Buhl, graduating in 1963. Bob was very active in school functions and a member of the first wrestling team at Buhl High School. He was the state champion in the cutting horse event in the high school rodeos for several years. He joined the National Guard and had basic training in Fort Ord, Calif., and Fort Lewis, Wash. Bob attended the American Academy of Meat Cutting in Toledo, Ohio. He was employed with Erb Bros. Market as a meat cutter for several years. Bob married his best friend, Sharie, on April 20, 1968. They have two children, Elizabeth Rodrigues and Joe Freeman. He started farming in 1970 and purchased a farm in 1989. A happy life and great family.

Bob loved horses! He lived and breathed horses. It was a great day when the Quarter Horse Journal arrived in the mail. If you wanted to know the bloodline of any horse, “Just ask Freeman.” He was always there to lend a hand to any young rider when they needed encouragement or advice. He also judged high school cutting events for many years. Bob was one of the founders of the Magic Valley Reined Cowhorse Association.

Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharie; his daughter, Elizabeth (Kalani) Rodrigues; granddaughter, Raquel Rose of Kailua, Hawaii; his son, Joe Freeman of Honolulu, Hawaii; sisters, Judy (Ron) Pittenger of Raymore, Mo.; Kay (Bob) Billington; nephews, Will and Dan of Richfield, Idaho; brother, Beny Freeman of Hollister, Idaho; nieces, Nevada Zamora and Brigette Morrison; niece, Amy Kaes Mingo and nephew Rob Kaes. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mona Freeman Kaes; and niece, Molly Kaes.

The family would like to thank Home Health and Hospice, especially Susan, Steve, Gloria and Terri, Dr. Gregory Ball and Tina and Buhl EMTs.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the First Christian Church of Buhl (Broadway and Poplar streets). Interment will follow at the West End Cemetery in Buhl. The family suggests that donations be made to Buhl Quick Response.
