TWIN FALLS — W. Dean Gibson, 85, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, in Twin Falls, Idaho.
He was born April 29, 1928, in Sugar City, Idaho,to Willard C. and Rayola Heilsen Gibson. He was the oldest of three children and spent his early years in Eden and Franklin, Idaho. Dean graduated from Franklin High School and joined the United States Army at age 18. He was stationed at Fort Lewis and Japan. Upon Dean’s return to the USA, he attended Utah State in Logan, Utah.
Dean married Jeanne M. Burnham on Feb. 17, 1950. They resided in Preston, Idaho, for one year and was then hired by the telephone company and moved to Shelley, Idaho, to be a lineman. Throughout his career with the telephone company, he lived in Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, Arco, Weiser, Boise, Burley, Twin Falls and ended his career in Pocatello. Dean retired on Oct. 30, 1982, at age 54.
Duringthis time, Dean and Jeanne were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Jan, Jil and Julie. After his retirement, they movedto the ranch in Franklin, Idaho, for nine years before building their home on the golf course in Preston, Idaho. In 2004, they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, where he resided until his death.
Dean is survived by two younger sisters, Darlene Mecham of Florida and Carolyn (Ken) Shepherd of Kirkland, Wash.; his loving wife, Jeanne; and their three daughters, Jan and Larry of Twin Falls, Jil and Tom of Boise and Julie of Pocatello; 11 grandchildren; 12great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Rayola Gibson; mother-in-law, Mabel Hutchinson; and sister-in-law, Joanne Butterworth.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the Franklin LDS Stake Center. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. Eighth E. in Preston, and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the stake center. Interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery.
