BOISE — Leola D. (Johnsen) Kamitchis, 82, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho, from stroke related complications.

She was born July 4, 1928, in Stafford, Okla., to Howard Christian Johnsen and Martha Eva (Wilks) Johnsen. She married George Lorraine Tockey in 1945. They had two children, James Earl Tockey in 1948 and Saundra Lou Tockey in 1950. They were later divorced. Leola married Louis Joseph Kamitchis in 1959. He had Elizabeth Suzanne Kamitchis in 1950 and Stephanie Ann Kamitchis in 1953. Together they had Louis Joseph Kamitchis Jr. in 1965 and John Andreas Kamitchis in 1967.

Leola worked for the State Insurance Fund of Oklahoma for 30 years, retiring at age 55. She belonged to Women of the Moose and served as an officer in every capacity. She would help call Bingo at the weekly Bingo night. The ladies coffee group met at Conrad-Marr Drug until it closed and now meets at Mae’s Restaurant. She loved all of them and their times together. Leola has always been a caregiver; caring for a blind couple in Yukon, Okla., Lady Anne in Bethany, Okla., and Ken McAlister in Burley, Idaho. She was always a friend’s friend. She cared for her husband, Louis, through his blindness at age 50 from diabetes to his death at age 66 in 1991. Leola moved to Burley, Idaho, in 2001 to be closer to her daughter. She made many friends through CRMC Volunteers, Bridge, Bingo, Craft Group and Golf Group. Her love and laughter will be missed by all.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandy (Doug) Pasley and grandson, Joe of Burley, Idaho; her sons, Louis Joseph Kamitchis Jr. of Yukon, Okla., and John Andreas Kamitchis of Enid, Okla.; her stepdaughters Suzy Kamitchis Mendenhall of California and Stephanie Kamitchis Bishop of Texas. Preceding her in death are her husbands, George Lorraine Tockey and Louis Joseph Kamitchis; her parents, Eva Johnsen, and Jim and Rozzetta Sullivan; her sister, Anna Lee Anderson; and one son, James Earl Tockey.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Yanda and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Yukon, Okla. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, at Yanda and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Okla.
