Head coach: Sid Gambles, 5th year
2015 record: 2-7, 1-4 in Great Basin West Conference
Returning starters: 10
A year ago Jerome's group of seniors wasn't "bought-in," according to head coach Sid Gambles. That does not appear to be the case with the 2016 Tigers.
Gambles' team has a tangible energy at practice and, with tons of top-tier talent returning on offense, the Tigers could take the next step towards Great Basin relevance.
“This is a good group. I think the seniors saw the previous two years of seniors and we told them, ‘You know, don’t blame it on them, but learn from their mistakes,'" Gambles said. “So far, they’ve been fantastic.”
With a solid offense group led by either Jordin Myers or Brien Ploss at quarterback and Joey Lenker, Caly Miller and Logan Geist as receiving targets, Jerome should be able to score points. The main hurdle standing in their way is potential injuries along the line, according to Gambles.
“I think our 1's are as good as any. (But) we don’t have a lot of depth. We have some really good skill kids, and I don’t think people know that, quite honestly," Gambles said. “We don’t have great depth on the O and D line, so it might not matter in the scheme of things. Because you’re as good as your front.”
