TWIN FALLS — Indie Lens Pop-Up, featuring free screenings from PBS’s Emmy award-winning “Independent Lens,” will show “Tell Them We Are Rising: the Story of Black Colleges and Universities” at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Twin Falls Center for the Arts’ Sligar Auditorium, 195 River Vista Place, Twin Falls.

The film explores the pivotal role played by historically black colleges and universities over the course of 150 years in American history, culture and identity. Revealing the rich history of these schools, “Tell Them We Are Rising” emphasizes the power of higher education to transform lives and advance civil rights.

Sponsored by the Magic Valley Arts Council, the Idaho Humanities Council and the Independent Television Service, Indie Lens Pop-Up films explore human experience, timely subject matter and allow viewers to engage in post-screening, moderated dialog.

There will be a free slice of pizza for film viewers at 6 p.m. Additional slices will cost $1 each.
