KETCHUM — The Sun Valley Center for the Arts’ lecture series will continue at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8 with a presentation by author and food critic Ruth Reichl. Her lecture “Protect What We Eat” will be held at the Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood, 100 Saddle Road, Ketchum. The event is sponsored by Susan and Ron Greenspan.

Reichl is one of the country’s most recognizable food experts who shows people what to eat, how to cook and how to satisfy cravings. During her career, she has been editor-in-chief of Gourmet Magazine; restaurant critic at The New York Times; restaurant critic and food editor at the Los Angeles Times; and judge on three seasons of Bravo’s “Top Master Chef.” Reichl has written several bestselling memoirs and cookbooks — most notably “My Kitchen Year: 136 Recipes That Saved My Life” which was named best cookbook of the year and one of the best books of 2015 by Amazon. Her 10-episode PBS show “Gourmet’s Adventures with Ruth” highlighted her trips to the best cooking schools on five continents.

Born and raised in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Reichl moved to Berkeley, Calif., in the early 1970s where she played an integral role in America’s culinary revolution as chef and co-owner of The Swallow Restaurant.
