TWIN FALLS — The College of Southern Idaho Music Department will hold their 11th annual Spring Jazz Collaboration at 7:30 p.m. March 14 in the CSI Fine Arts Auditorium. Performing this year will be the CSI Madrigals and the CSI Jazz Ensemble.
The CSI Madrigals are an elite, auditioned group of eight CSI students who perform primarily a cappella music in a wide variety of styles — including vocal jazz. The CSI Jazz Ensemble, a semi-professional group where CSI music students have the opportunity to play alongside professional musicians, performs a wide repertoire of big band music.
Some of the tunes to be featured in the concert are: “Here’s That Rainy Day” by Dave Barduhn; “Satin Doll” by Duke Ellington; “How High the Moon” by The Manhattan Transfer; “Four Brothers” by Woody Herman; “Corner Pocket” by Count Basie; and “Blue Skies” by Irving Berlin.
Admission is free, but donations to the CSI Music Department Scholarship Fund will be appreciated. More information: call Camille Barigar at 208-732-6288.
