Krazy for Kids
You don’t usually see children conducting orchestras with glow sticks, but this event is all about kid-friendly fun. The Magic Valley Symphony presents a “Krazy For Kids” concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the College of Southern Idaho Fine Arts Auditorium. Conductor Theodore Hadley’s all-request program includes works from Mozart, Handel and Broadway. But there’s a lot of fun before the show as well. There will also be an instrument petting zoo from 6:30 to 7:10 p.m. in the CSI Fine Arts foyer. Children can try out string, brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Local high School music students and symphony members will be showing the instruments. The Twin Falls Public Library will have books about music and the Symphony will have a photo booth area where kids can do selfies and group pictures with their phones and cameras. There will be wooden conducting batons for kids at the concert, and well as glow sticks they can conduct with. Some will conduct from the audience and others will take the stage with Hadley to guide the orchestra. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for students, at Kurt’s Pharmacy, Sav-Mor Drug, Dunkley Music, the CSI box office or at the door.
The annual Plant Sale at the College of Southern Idaho is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Stop by to find good deals on house and garden plants. There will be free Falls Brand hot dogs, free Chobani yogurt, free balloons, a bounce house, popcorn and drinks. CSI’s Baking and Pastry Arts students will also be selling $1 cupcakes. Plants includes succulents, flowers, herbs, tomatoes, peppers, baskets, and planters. The event is at the CSI Greenhouses on the west side of the CSI campus across the circular road from the gymnasium.
