Gender and stigma
The final film of this year’s Indie Lens Pop-up free film screening is “Real Boy” showing at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Sligar Auditorium at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts, 195 River Vista Place. The film follows Bennett, a transgender teenager with dreams of musical stardom. A moderated discussion with Magic Valley local Brandon Scott Tesch will follow the film. Tesch is a hairdresser and performance artist. This event is free and open to the public.
Cacti and succulents
If you’ve had a chance to walk through Orton Botanical Gardens during the holidays, you might want to attend this free open house. Orton Botanical Gardens will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at 867 Filer Ave. W. The three-days will feature more than 400 species and varieties of plants on display, including many Idaho native plants, cacti and succulents. Most plants on sale are drought tolerant. Ground Control Clogging STARZ is presenting its annual showcase of favorite routines with songs from iconic movies at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at The Orpheum Theatre. The dance show is directed by Adison and Hailey Hillstead. Performances will be by Ground Control’s National Champion clogging teams, Twin Falls High School’s Jive show choir and the new Ground Control Ballroom team.
