TWIN FALLS • Greek yogurt company Chobani announced Thursday it will expand its product line to include two new products.

Starting this summer, the company will sell dips and drinkable yogurt. The products were developed by a research and development team in Twin Falls in collaboration with CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, said Michael Gonda, vice president of corporate communications.

“These are innovations that will initially be made in our facility in Twin Falls,” Gonda said.

Chobani has increased its share in the overall yogurt market. For the first two months of 2016, the company saw 25 percent top line sales growth as compared to that time last year. In Twin Falls, Chobani added nearly 100 jobs in the last half of 2015, Gonda said.

“We’re experiencing great growth and will continue to fuel that momentum by investing in our facility in Twin Falls,” he said.

The four dip flavors are: Roasted Red Pepper, Three-Pepper Salsa, Chili Lime and Smoked Onion Parmesan. They will be available starting in June.

The drinkable yogurt flavors will include Mixed Berry, Strawberry Banana, Apple Cucumber Spinach, and Mango. Drink Chobani will be available at starting in July in 10-ounce bottles.

“Chobani is excited to announce its first-ever expansion beyond the yogurt aisle with two new products that build on the Mediterranean tradition of shared spreads with Chobani Meze Dips and delicious, portable protein with Drink Chobani,” a company statement said.

Gonda said Chobani’s CEO, Ulukaya, comes from Turkish background, where yogurt-based drinks are popular. Ulukaya’s involvement in the process helps the company launch ideas faster, Gonda said.

“I think Chobani’s beginning a new chapter,” he said.

The Twin Falls Chobani plant opened in December 2012.
